Building a New Asia Support System by Jason Reed

Author: gatelesis

The growth of the Asia Pacific region in various commodities over the last two decades is nothing short of astounding.  Over 50% of the fastest-growing economies reside within this region, and there is a long runway of future growth.  Industries such as gaming, e-commerce, logistics, motorcycles, and aviation highlight some of the fastest moving products and services seen in the region.  If we specifically drill into the aviation market, new aircraft deliveries over that period reflect a hockey stick growth pattern compared to the previous ten years alone. That type of development, in any sector, requires a significant focus on customer support and services to support the new products on the market.

Since 2002, GA Telesis has become a global player and maintains a large footprint of sales, support, MRO, asset management, and distribution to all world markets with 34 locations across 23 countries.  However, in the last ten years, the amount of internal effort generated to support the Asia Pacific region has grown dramatically and now moves into a new support phase.  When looking at the region’s customer base, there are clear philosophical differences between airlines and MROs, respectively, and how they operate compared to one another.  Therefore, coming up with a strategy of support for all customers out of one location simply doesn’t work due to various fleet types, supply chain philosophies, government oversight, and naturally, cultural differences.   On top of that, the COVID pandemic and continuously changing regulations add another complication that requires a changing support dynamic.

Because of this notable change in regional and global affairs over the last few years, the GA Telesis team has already embarked on opening several new sales, support, engine MRO, and distribution locations to ensure we are one with our Asia Pacific customers and partners. By the end of 2021, we will locally represent no less than eight different regions from Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and New Zealand.  This growth is an enormous step-change in approaching the region and will be an industry model for years to come.  There will be no more time differences on our watch nor topics we cannot support locally. GA Telesis can provide parts sales, aircraft component and engine leasing, engine overhaul, component repair and overhaul offerings, OEM distribution, asset management, teardown management, and above all, a friendly local smile, bow, or handshake.

We are living in a time where the world is resetting all aspects of daily life.  The COVID pandemic shutdown actually began at the end of 2019 in the Asia Pacific region, so they have now endured nearly a year and a half of economic slowdown but are at the forefront of the recovery.  That pent-up consumer demand over the last 16 months will translate to a boon of activity in the years to come.  Staying in front of that demand and creating a local GA Telesis Asia Pacific Ecosystem is our way of making sure we are ready when the customer is ready.

Our Business is Integrated Aviation Services; Our Mission is Customer Success.
